'angels'

Did anyone else have offspring who whooped & hollered on the edge of the couch last night during Dr Who and then who woke in the night, freaking out at every slightest noise and asking if they could sleep on the floor of your bedroom?

We settled for him sleeping on the couch in the loungeroom, with Ultimate Cat Protection.

And now my eyelids are finding it very hard to stay open.

My year 7 self-censors and only watches eps. of Dr Who he thinks aren't too scary! So he watched Masterchef last night instead.Daughter and I watched the angels from between our fingers, jumping in fright.

No nightmares surprisingly, although I had two children cuddled up close on either side hiding their eyes or watching through their fingers. This morning I got a run down of percentages of scared from my 7yo. About 10% scared when the angel was on the screen, about 50% when it started to move and that ratcheted up to 99% when the angel had it snarly face on.

Lordy - sounds like I missed something rather impressive. Must tape it next time!

Ah, yes! Dr Who and those damned angels! Well, my nine and a half year old girl lasted about five minutes into the show before racing out of the room and donning a blindfold & fingers in her ears! Thankfully no nightmares though...at least none that I'm aware of yet! I'm sure she would have preferred Master Chef if that had been offered as an available option in this household...

Yes, exactly what happened at our house, even tho A had devised a great solution for weeping angels, which is to always carry a goldfish as they can never close their eyes ... as it turns out sleeping with mum is the real solution

Wow, the original episode traumatised D for months (years even?) so I'm assuming he didn't watch it. I think he's sworn off Dr Who for life. I haven't managed to catch any of this season, so good to have forewarning if I decide to watch online...

Off topic I'm afraid, however this "ampersand appreciation" thread made me think of you - http://ministryoftype.co.uk/words/article/for_the_love_of_ampersands/

My seven year old loved it. LOVED. He's still freaked out by the End of the World, and to a lesser extent by The Empty Child. Weeping Angels, though, he finds deliciously spooky - he's watched every second.

gawd, lucky you, Laurelhed. We've decided to record the conclusion episode and watch it in daylight...

glad to hear we're not alone, anyhoo :)

Not having any offspring, I can't speak for them. However, I did find it necessary to turn the pic of a stone angel from Waverly cemetery to the wall before I went to bed ...

I'm back in the People's Republic of the ACT btw - hope there's a chance to bump into you some time soon.

The latest episode was fun, but not as good as 'Blink'.
