Pulpy

I'm not ignoring you. I'm really sick, and can only spend about ten minutes in from of a screen before my eyes explode. I have a viral infection, and have been bedbound since sunday night apart from a brief attempt on Tuesday to do something quiet in my studio, an experience which resulted in a huge temperature spike and a hot/cold experience last night that I hope doesn't repeat itself today.

While I'm aching and sweating and bored out of my brain (there's only so much radio you can listen to), go over and have fun with the wonderful Pulp Fiction exhibition at the University of Otago Library, curated by my marvelous Donald-the-Special-Collections-Librarian and finally digitised.

Then come back here & amuse me by telling me which is your favorite cover or title and why.

Laughing like drain here! Haven't seen so many lurid covers since I did a stock-take in a book shop in the 50s.
I did spot one Carter Brown. Thought there's be more of him.

Get better soon.

By a very narrow margin, I think it's got to be the cover of 'Pulp'. Never seen anyone use a book for a bra before.

WV is 'panita', which may be her name.

I love the design of "and the spider came back".

Have never a "pulp" novel- would love to after seeing all these covers.

rest up and get better

Sorry to hear you are so poorly. The cover of "World of If" leaves me feeling somewhat dodgy - the way the glass holder just finishes and looks like its cutting her in two! On a lighter note, "Jig for the hangman" leaves me dizzy! Thanks for sharing.

My favorite is “The True Horrifying Story of The Pyjama Girl.”

The “Pyjama Girl?” That just kind of makes me giggle a little bit. Pyjamas? HORRIFYING!! Tee hee… But the glowing eyes of them man are a wee bit scary, aren’t they?

Hope you feel better soon.

Jif for the Hangman. She looks very surprised to find a fully cooked lobster walking along the beach.

Hope your virus vacates soon.

I like 'Drongoes who Dared' with "Prisoners of Serpentland' coming in a close second.

crikey too many to choose from - I do like 'Alarm in the Night', though.

how can you choose just one?? but 'triple bar trouble' is pretty good...I love alliteration..the cheesier the better ...i think my year 8 might get a snicker out of that too...but the alvin purple covers are so 70's i think i will have to go with them.
Get well soon!

For sheer crass, the nazi ones would get my vote, because sexing up death camps is really the only way to go.

that's an excellent collection. Full marks. Like Alexia, I'm hopelessly confused for choice.
Glad to hear you are feeling better today (see later post) - that sounds like one nasty bug.
