dotty points

Sorry, still feeling flat. And somehow quite disconnected from things. Still, there have been some light moments over the last week:

-- assessing lots of TAFE students as a guest panel member, which felt like being on a panel for some kind of talent show. Byrd was also a panelist, and I discovered how Bad Cop he really can be, which was fun.

-- I had a surprise run-in with a mermaid! We literally bumped into each other in the halls of my art skool, and she recognised me from the various silly photos I've mounted over the years. We made time to stop and have a beverage together on the weekend, among decorative wombat tiles and trees, and it was lovely.

-- Bumblebee and I had a visit from Colonel and Lady Duck today. Colonel Duck has decided to stage an Intervention on our badly neglected garden, and came up to make some plans about how to proceed. He gave Bumblebee one last chance (after nagging him for ages) to write a Christmas Present Suggestion List before he committed to buying him singlets and undies, so B sat down and wrote a very Star-Wars-heavy list, with one last thing at the very end: he wanted a (sic) BADMITTEN SET.

All I could think of was a set of mittens knitted in the shape of devil's horn hands, so:

I had to make that image, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THEM ON THE INTERWEBS. Come on peoples, especially etsy peoples who can KNIT. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before????!!!

-- It was the cats' collective birthday last friday. I gave them a huge plate of raw whiting. They were very happy. They turned five.

-- Best Beloved has a new job. With a new title. It's quite an impressive title, but I'm not allowed to tell you it. The acronym, however, is DISS {see, I'm even getting my jokes wrong] DISMISS. That's something to laugh about, isn't it?

I'm quite enjoying watching the Liberal Party turn themselves in knots. That's another thing to laugh about...

Hmm. I'm trying to laugh more. I'll get there.

Out encounter was brief but lovely, and such a surprise. Such fine atmosphere beneath the wombats!

I DO hope you are cheered soon. Perhaps the French Things will cheer you?

meanwhile, I am fielding Bad Calls from the school. My son has been very naughty it seems. *sigh*
So Over It..

Love from fifi..

Am getting lots of schadenfreude from the Liberal knot-tying too. Hoping Joe Hockey gets in, because his name spoonerises so nicely - and also because Tony Abbott is the evilest of three evils.

oh yeah heavy metal goes soft and wooly with Badmittens. Trying hard to figure out what the DISS is. All I can think of is Director of Infiltrating Secret Societies. That's it isn't it?

Well here's something that should make you laugh - within 72 hours of getting rid of one ball and chain job, I've committed to a piece in a group show mid 2010. Shame I can't remember what a chisel is.

I played cards with my kids on Sunday and kept mucking it up, snatching cards that weren't mine - is that funny enough? they thought it was mental.
Those mittens are the best, Dave Grohl and Mr Homme and JPJ should have some for their new band.
Take care, the year is passing slowly and so should we.

I'm late respond cos I'm in a Slough of Despond! Bloody Abbott, for Pete's sake! One damn' vote. I really didn't mind that the buggers were self-destructing, but this?!!!!!
Welcome back to 1400, folks.
Not the best mood for intricate paper-folding, is it!
Oh! Some bad mittens would help. They're brilliant!

I've got it! Director In-charge of Super Surprises! Which means you should be in for a Super Surprise Christmas, non? I will cross my fingers for you...

Oh, I hope Christmas brings super surprises!

Actually, I'm with Zoe on the Tony Assbot issue: it's going to be so much fun having a Real Baddy back in opposition. Let's all work really hard to keep him there.

Hi I have just finished making M Jackson gloves for all the young one over here. I could not find gloves any where in Perth so I brought Bridal ones from Spotlight buy the time I had putting sparkles and glitter on them they turned out great. All the ones I have made them for have sent me photo's so Aunty Lou rocks with the next generation. I will have alook at my knitting and see if I can make the gloves. I sure Lady Duck would be the best. She is so cleaver with knitting. The doll I sent over to you, well I have just made the 70 yes 70th one. Every time I say no more. Someone wants one. Thinking of Jamie today and you big big hugs Aunty Lou
