Print to Book

Humorous Pictures

I just thought I'd let you all know that on the weekend of the 9/10 of August I will be in Sydney, hanging out at the excellent Warringah Printmakers' Studio, teaching a lovely little weekend course called Print to Book.

It's really a course for printmakers who want to extend their practice into the form of the artist's book, to teach them some practical making and binding skills and throw around some ideas on form and content.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, there are plenty of places left, and the more of you in the class, the more money I get. Heh, no, bugger the money. It's always fun to get a group of people together and encourage them to take a blade and needle to the pile of print proofs that have been sitting in the bottom map drawer for years. Be brave! Be bold! is the credo. There's no such thing as a mistake, it's pure serendipity and a large whack of derring do.

And actually, even if you're not a printmaker -- if you just want to muck around with simple book structures, come along. I'm very accommodating :)

oh, I wonder if I could get to this?

What would I bring if i didnt have a pile of old etchings to sew together? stuff? scans?

oh, it would be lovely if you could!

I think drawings, old op-shop books, your linocut proofs, posters, anything you can think of that you're happy to play with. It's basically a book-structure playground!

If you have any spare time (and interest) that weekend is also the opening weekend for Sydney Design...

Bugger, SS. I don't think I'm going to have a skerrick of spare time. I need to see the Biennale as well. May have to schedule another trip... but when??!!

Speedy, it's $215 for non-members. Yes, harry is supposed to be... we've got a date and time, but not sure if he wants to keep it small or announce it to all and sundry... (I'm happy with small, because it would be nice to be able to actually talk rather than stress out over who I'm talking to [have I read their latest posts, etc!]).

So put the pressure on Harry :)

I may well just turn up in the morning if I am not too hung over and dont need to bring things on the first day....You probably won't get this prior, but anyway, in case you do. Than sat night I can assemble some stuff to make into a booklike object.

"Yes, harry is supposed to be..."
# There are many thing's I'm _supposed_ to be. I'm _supposed_ to be a moneyed gad-about. I'm _supposed_ to be able to speak seven languages. But no: Starcraft happened and I lost my mid twenties.

"we've got a date and time, but not sure if he wants to keep it small or announce it to all and sundry""
# I am trying to make it bigger and Will announce it in my own good time w.. what are we talking about?

Oh! The pub! It's too late now anyway. Suck it, everyone!
