Remember to breathe

Damn, I forgot that I'd set myself a Tuesday date with myself every week to do this. Still, I remembered the next day, which is better than never.

This week I'm remembering to breathe by thinking how far I've come since 1980... it's been a long journey, and I'm 99% sure I look a damn sight better now than I did at 12. I don't think I've worn white jeans since, but I did love that cheesecloth handkerchief top.

This is a few months before I cut my hair to look like Princess Di.

Yep, it's been a looonnnngg journey. Breathe...

Sweet Duckie, even as a tender 12 year old, I never thought I would see you wearing white. Very virginal. Love the spinning wheel in the corner. They were popular in the 70's I believe in response to Aussie women re-establishing their post colonial ancestral roots. Macarthur would have been pleased!!!

OOPS!! (re: earlier comment) That should be Macquarie not Macarthur. I am suffering "bloggers anxiety" or maybe "post blogging panic disorder". Anyway, one could safetly say my blogging days are nearly over. BAAAAA!!

'sOK we all wore white jeans in the 80s...I like the spinning wheel too, and the pot plants, they are very 80s, especially the Decor one near your feet.

You seem very tall for 12.

In fact I'm sure you look about 28 in that shot.

Maybe my eyes are tired.

Thanks, SOL, although that's probably not what I really want to hear.

Sach, visit ANYTIME! Don't be shy!

CSH, I *never* had to show ID from about the age of 14 onwards. It got rather insulting, but my friends took complete advantage of it (oops, are you reading, Colonel Duck?)

And re. the spinning wheel, buggered if I know why mum bought it, probably part of a trend, indeed, but she actually used it for a fair while, and made us greasy, lumpy scarves and things from the spun wool. She would also come into our classes at school and show us how to spin. And then it got shoved in a corner with a potplant next to it. I guess it was waay too hot to spin in Townsville, where this photo was taken. It's still in a corner to this day, although not in Townsville, much to the relief of my cold weather-loving mother.

You've still got those shoes, haven't you?

Heh. That was the year before I was born.

And I too know the joys of never being IDd. I would kiss any security guard who asked me now. KISS HIM HARD!
