Procrastrination city

I've just wasted a couple of hours (how fast does the clock go when you're having fun??!!) building a quiz that you'll all probably hate.

I've been having an ongoing discussion about Bernice's Oztralyan Bounty of Books, and what I'd like to know is, of all these books that we get on reading lists and study lists etc, which ones do we actually like by these authors?

So I've made a very uncomprehensive list which will probably make people sigh, but maybe I'll make a better one when I'm not meant to be sanding and painting and dusting.

Here it is, in friendly quiz parameters, with their stoopid advertising and stuff, but I hope to get something interesting out of it, for no reason at all really. Feel free to share the link, the more the merrier.

Done!

It's a beauty, too. I took you at your word and chose my favourites rather than the ones I think are the 'best', as it's by no means always the same thing.

Done! A bit of fun for my Tuesday :)

Fascinating. I really, really love some of those books and only quite like others, though.

Done! Interesting and made me think a bit to decide for a few of them which really was my favourite. Not a time waster at all. Thanks, AD.

Good work! I was interested to see how many of my 'never reads' coincided with other peoples...

Yay, I'm enjoying the results too. Must do another one sometime with some less canonical writers. Dunno why I care, but it's fun.

Hi Ampersand Duck,
Just wanted to say that my favourite book of Roger McDonald's was not listed. It's called "Shearer's Motel", and is selfconfessedly autobiographical (re his time spend as a cook on a sheep station). Slick prose, a great read. By comparison, I found "Desmond Kale" somewhat impenetrable. Sam

I hope your not going to say you have read all those books. i must confess i pressed 'have not read any' far too often. but loved being reminded of some of my very favourites - The Lost Dog (reminds me I need to get that back from the lending circuit and reread it) and Drylands by Thea Astley both absolute gems. Well done.

No, absolutely not! In fact, I had to press 'haven't read any' a couple of times too. I'm just curious to see if the books we're asked to study are actually the books that are fun to read. Of something like that.

Hi Sam, I tried to stick to novels, just because I really couldn't take any more time to create the quiz! But thanks for the tip, I'm determined to read it now!

Thanks, Genevieve!

Thanks for creating that quiz (found courtesy of stillifewithcat). Not only was it fun but it will help me form a list of boos to read so I can achieve my new year's resolution to read more Australian lit.

Absolutely my pleasure, Infense. I made a list too!
