Thanks but no thanks

As much as it's a thrill to be linked as Blog of Note on the Bloglines page, I'm not enjoying the sudden influx of spam commenters.

I love blogging, I love bloggers, but trolls, spammers and anyone who says 'Follow me' will be deleted from any comment stream they pollute.

You have been warned.

Genuine pedestrians, welcome. I hope you enjoy what I have to give, whatever that happens to be.

Today I am particularly enjoying the Canberra cloudlife, although I can't share because I still haven't found my camera cord (GAH). We are predicted to have thunderstorms later today and the clouds are going nuts out there. I found a cloud chart to tell me what they are all called (the most excellent one in the world, free to download, is here) but the names just don't match what goes on in my head when I look at them, so I'm not bothering to memorise them. Still, the cloud chart now lives in the loo with the Times Tables chart, so osmosis might just happen.

Trolls are the very worst thing about internet anonymity.
Some people just have no point in their life other than causing others misery.

Ah, gotta love trolls...not. Although I'm new here on blogger, I've had that same experience on other sites...

Yeah, I hate misplacing items, so I usually keep them in the same place all the time as a cheat for me. But, living with my (somewhat annoying) boyfriend, he tends to move things and then forgets where he puts it, so we both end up losing the same item...

You need to put your blog on comment approval, Blogger now has a way of blocking spam for those whom use the comment moderation service on blogger-that will dump all that Asian spam in the newly made spam box and you will be able to delete unwanted comments and keep the ones you like.

Congrats to the accolade anyway, I like your cats:)

Thanks Jane! Actually, I have got the spam thing turned on, but they've made recent changes to it, and some things are slipping through, which suggests that their new system has a few flaws. I've been using Blogger for 6 years now, and have had very few spam problems.

My cats are being very cute tonight. Padge has turned into a koala, sleeping with his head tucked downwards into the couch.

Hey there,

I do not know if you use it, but you can also use a feature which will allow you to look at each comment before it is posted. This will allow you to control all comments which are posted to your page and protect you from unwanted posts to your page.

Even though it sounds like you are a reluctant recipient, congrats on your accolade anyhow. Keep up the good work!

"Hi lovely lady I like you site, I look for nice women like you I might spend life with. I have many pigs. I can send picture of pigs. I hope we are friends and maybe we can be together. with care from Joe"

hmmmmmmm.....

I think this sort of comment is "sad and creepy'..... (SAC) - hope you remain spam-, troll- and sac-free

Did you get a storm? We got thunder and lightning, but not a lot of rain. But it is cooler today, thank goodness. Hopefully some of the pollen has settled today as well.

Haven't the clouds been great? They're a bit dull today though ;-) At least I haven't had to water my new vege bed yet.

Oh, and I hope the AP is going OK.

Well done Duck! I promise I won't fill up your comments with Spam. Smoked salmon, yes, possibly, with a side salad of silly comments but definitely not Spam.

I've noticed that with most of the B of Ns. Also, pseudo-followers can increase by 3 or 4. The price of blog fame!
btw, I used to live in Australia and got to visit Canberra only once. This was back in the Whitlam (my hero?) days. Years later (about 5 years ago), I wrote to him from the US where I now live. Got a lovely handwritten note from the old boy! Got to be a Gough fan to appreciate that I guess.

No way! I hate technological problems! Can you get a replacement camera cable? Most you can get fairly cheaply, although I'm not familiar with Canberra's geography...

I read Gavin Prator-Pinney's "The Cloudspotter's Guide: The Science, History, and Culture of Clouds" and ever since have been looking at clouds in a new way... he's also recently written a book on waves, which would seem to be even less book-worthy than clouds at first glance, but is apparently another worthwhile read.

I miss Canberra weather - Toowoomba does not have 4 seasons!
