Well, the lost bit is true - it's just th...Hi,

Well, the lost bit is true - it's just that the mind tends to leap to it's meaning as "deceased" in that type of situation rather than simply being "geographically embarrassed" (albeit at terrible peril).

I am pleased to hear too that you had the opportunity to meet both Margaret & Joan - both the most delightful of people - Rosemary too - though I think met Rosemary just once and more than 30 years ago. (Sadly Joan passed away earlier this year so we'll never again have that pleasure with her or with Rosemary).

I should, perhaps, add too that Margaret, Joan and Bill's father (also Bill) was a very interesting man It has been a long time since I heard the story, but as I recall it, he had at one time a job proof-reading books for publication (though I have no idea how he managed to fall into that role). The curious thing about this though was that when he found any errors on the 1st page he would refuse to proceed any further! I have the sense that he didn't hold that job for terribly long - though I cannot imagine why. ;^D (This association with literary material must surely have been something he passed on to all three of his children - it's not as if he had spent much time in that sort of endeavour in his working life. I recall he built a church in (I think) Lismore at one time, so, presumably more familiar with heavy labour than a pen).

I recently found that some of Nan's books were in the "local" section of the public library at Windsor. This puzzles me. As children they spent at least a few holidays on the Hawkesbury - but I was assured that this had been the lower Hawkesbury, around Brooklyn or Patonga, not anywhere near the Hawkesbury Shire.

I don't suppose you've any thoughts on that do you?

Anyway, thank you so very much for responding. It has been a real pleasure,

DaveAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17142301458444111434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8632542.post-35623761769965856902014-08-09T13:00:52.587+10:002014-08-09T13:00:52.587+10:00Hi David, thanks so much for this. I was reminded of a strange conversation between her and I at the GIW one day. (Thankfully all our conversations were strange!)

Me: I'm having a vision.
Jilly: Ooo, really! What can you see?
Me: It's not a vision of images, I am having a conversation.
Jilly: Oh. With whom?
Me: With you! I am lying in bed, I can't sleep.
Jilly (puts her paper folding bone down): What are we talking about?
Me: Just the usual, Art and stuff. It is my own house, an older woman coughs in the next room. I am thinking of 'La Belle Dame Sans Merci', the painting by the Pre-Raphaelite guy. The one with the knight and the Horse.
Jilly: I don't know that one, I must look it up in the Library.
Me: It's a beautiful work, it depicts a woman kneeling beside a Horse with a Knight in shining armor. There seems to be light radiating from her. Or is it radiating from the Horse. I can't recall.
Jilly (flatly, humorously): Are we talking on the telephone, Patrick?
Me (in a trance-like state): Um, no, (swallows), I don't know, you are not there, well not in person at least...I am envisioning that you are in a kind of afterlife, you are warm, the sun is warming you, the birds are singing, the man...what sort of race of man do you prefer?
Jilly: In regards to?
Me: What sort of man do you find attractive, what sort of nationality?
Jilly (sighs, like she has too much work to do): I don't know, I saw a lovely Russian guy the other day, no that's not it...
Me: You mean Eurasian, like the girl in that Savage Garden video?
Jilly: Yes, I guess so.
Me: Well he is bending forward at the waist, to kiss you, passionately.
Jilly: Yes, that sounds Romantic. I like that...
(We resume our work, in silence)

I miss her. The hardest thing I’ve ever made was a pop up card, I used the simplest manual I could find (http://www.askwiki.net/How-to-Make-Pop-up-Cards), but for me it was still hard, I don’t think I can make anything like this book, but I will surely try!
